AJwD, A new Voice for justice, inclusion and Dignity

Every movement begins with a moment — a recognition that the status quo is no longer enough, and that something more intentional, more inclusive, and more transformative is urgently needed.

Today marks that moment.

We are proud to introduce AJwD an organization born out of a deep commitment to advancing justice, amplifying marginalized voices, and championing a world where dignity is not a privilege, but a guaranteed right for all.

Why AJwD, Why Now?

Across Africa and beyond, conversations about development, governance, and human rights are evolving. Yet, far too many communities remain excluded from the very systems designed to serve them. From persons with disabilities navigating inaccessible public services, to young people locked out of economic opportunities, to underrepresented groups whose stories are rarely told   the gaps are clear, and the consequences are real.

AJwD emerges at this critical intersection.

We are not just another organization adding to the noise. We are a platform for intentional action, evidence-driven advocacy, and inclusive development practice. Our mission is simple but urgent: to bridge systemic gaps and create pathways where equity and justice are not aspirational ideals, but lived realities.

What We Stand For

At AJwD, our work is guided by three core pillars:

1. Advocacy for Inclusion and Rights
We believe that policy and practice must reflect the diversity of the people they serve. AJwD will actively engage in advocacy that centres inclusion particularly for (journalists) persons with disabilities and other underserved populations ensuring that no one is left behind in development conversations.

2. Knowledge, Media, and Storytelling
Narratives shape policy, perception, and progress. Through research, journalism, and digital storytelling, AJwD will elevate voices that are often overlooked. We are committed to shifting narratives from vulnerability to agency, from silence to visibility.

3. Capacity Building and Partnerships
Sustainable change cannot happen in isolation. AJwD will work with governments, civil society, the private sector, and communities to build capacity, share knowledge, and co-create solutions that are practical, scalable, and impactful.

A Different Kind of Organization

What makes AJwD different is not just what we do — but how we do it.

We are grounded in lived experience, informed by professional expertise, and driven by a collaborative spirit. We recognize that meaningful change requires listening, learning, and adapting. It requires centering those most affected, not as beneficiaries, but as leaders and co-creators.

Our approach is intersectional, recognizing that issues of disability, youth inclusion, governance, and development do not exist in silos. They are interconnected   and so must be our solutions.

Looking Ahead

The journey ahead is ambitious, but necessary.

In the coming months, AJwD will roll out a series of initiatives focused on:

  • Advancing disability-inclusive policies and public systems
  • Supporting youth-led innovation and media engagement
  • Driving conversations on inclusive governance and accountability
  • Building strategic partnerships to scale impact across sectors
  • A monthly Continent-wide E-newspaper-ADIN, to be distributed across the continent

We are excited about what lies ahead, but we are also clear-eyed about the work required. Change takes time, persistence, and collective effort.

An Open Invitation

AJwD is not just an organization it is a movement in the making.

We invite partners, advocates, policymakers, journalists, and changemakers to join us on this journey. Whether through collaboration, knowledge sharing, or amplifying our work, there is a place for everyone committed to building a more inclusive and just society.

Because at the heart of AJwD is a simple belief:
that justice works best when it works for everyone. This is our beginning. And we are just getting started.
